CIO had the opportunity to speak with President and Chair of TAC, Ger- ry Chaput, about what 100 years has meant for building TAC’s future strat- egy, and the success of the association when it comes to leading the industry forward.CIO: How exciting has it been to celebrate the centennial with TAC and look ahead to the next 100 years?Gerry Chaput: It has been amaz- ing to see the excitement around TAC’s 100 year anniversary. When you look at it from a technical perspective, so muchhas changed in the transportation in- dustry over the past 100 years. In the next 100, I think we’re going to see a revolution in transportation, similar to what started in the 1900s when high- ways and cars were being developed.CIO: In your eyes, what is the next stage of the transportation revolution?GC: I believe that the next wave of the transportation revolution will be with the autonomous vehicle and how they fit into society—from a transport or transit perspective, moving people or moving commercial goods.November, 2015 | Canadian Industry Online |67
