As a result, this business segment an- nounced in 2014 that it would increase its investment in upfront R&D to de- velop standardized vehicle and sub- systems platforms. This strategy will enable Bombardier to remain competi- tive and profitable in key growth mar- kets.For instance, we developed theAVENTRA train for the Crossrail proj- ect, a high-frequency commuter line in the London area, which we won in 2014. Then, in July 2015, this new platform allowed us to win the LO- TRAIN project, consisting in a capacity increase for the London Overground, with a significant maintenance contract attached to the rolling stock order.
