Federal Government, I believed I could help people utilize technology to im- prove their business life. The PC mar- ket was only beginning in the early 80s, and I believed that this could be brought into the workplace to enhance business productivity.Since I’ve always been interested to work for myself, and the opportuni- ty presented itself, I seized it. There is a certain level of satisfaction compared with working in a large organization; I make my own decisions and am con- stantly challenging myself to reach the next level.When Northern Micro was small- er, we focused on selling to small busi-nesses in the Ottawa area. We found customers that didn’t care about a big corporate brand name, but still want- ed a high quality performance PC at an affordable price. Since we offered compelling value to our customers, the demand for our desktops was strong. However, we realized in order to grow the business, we needed to find much larger customers that we could serve. Naturally, the Federal Government and School Boards came to mind as one of the largest employers and institutions in Ottawa. These customers also de- mand the same compelling value when they purchase computers: high perfor- mance and quality, but at an affordable price.
