CANADIAN INDUSTRY ONLINE - NOVEMBER 2015Manjit Minhashave to worry about what’s on the oth- er person’s plate. You’re able to enjoy it together when you have success, and in that sense there’s nothing like a fam- ily partnership. You wear your heart on your sleeve because you’re siblings of course, but that means we also recover much faster too when there are differ- ences.CIO: What challenges did you face when you first ventured into this business?MM: I’m in a very male dominat- ed industry. So being young, a woman, ethnic, right off the bat those are three challenges that I had straight away. But those things are what separate you and make you memorable. I was always su- per researched, well dressed, and super punctual. You need to make an impres- sion. And you can do that especially when you do stand out.CIO: Who inspired you to want to be successful?MM: My Dad came from India when he was young with an engineer- ing degree that was not recognized here in Canada and $4 in his pocket. He re- did his degree and worked at the same time, then put us through school and in a really short amount of time started to be successful—at the same time taking care of us. Not only that, whatever you’re doing you do need to love it. You have to be honest with yourself as well: are you good at it? Is your team? If you work with someone and you’re not good at it, or they aren’t, it will never work out. It’s also important to make sure you manage the financial side as well, you can’t concentrate on your business and be successful if you’ve leveraged everything against what you owe. Live within your means, and it makes it a lot easier. In our business, we know we can lay our heads on pillows and enjoy the journey and not worry about paying back debt.CIO: What are the next steps for your company?MM: We are trying to capture more market share because there is so much more out there. We feel that we have a lot to do and a long way to go.My recommendations to those that are considering a business venture: Do your research and then get started. Getting started is the hardest part. Ask somebody if you don’t know the an- swers. You’ll be surprised at how many people will give you advice.10| Canadian Industry Online |	November, 2015
